The Day of the Lord – Prophetic Message about the Season the Church is in.

“The Day of the Lord” Acrylic on Canvas, 20×20 (2024)

I started this painting in 2022 as the Lord lead me to do a message on the Day of the Lord. In my understanding at the time, I was speaking about the future, end of all things event. I painted only the head of a lion in the original painting and added other symbols to represent the end times judgement and renewal of all things.

A few months ago, I was staring at the painting on the wall and suddenly saw a vision of the whole body of the lion on the picture! I knew I needed to finish the painting and understood it wasn’t complete yet. Then the Lord began to teach me about “seasons” of the Day of the Lord based on different biblical commentary and moments of God’s judgement being released throughout the bible. Great and terrible days like the ancient flood, the Jewish people leaving Egypt, Sodom and Gomorrah, and even Jesus’ ministry. There are warnings leading up to these events, but eventually God has to act.

Galatians 6:7 – Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.

The original painting was only the head of the lion, signifying this event being close back in 2022. The Lord showed me that the lion’s whole body coming into view means it is a “now” word, complete and in plain sight. I believe the Lord is saying to the church that we have entered a season of the Day of the Lord. God is standing as the great judge at this time and setting many wrongs right. Lately we’ve seen so many leaders of the church falling from grace, who perhaps would not repent and heal privately. They now have to deal with the exposure that comes with an increase of the glory of the Lord. And I believe this is only the beginning.

What I have sensed from the Lord for a while is that he is coming to tear down and rebuild his Church according to his ways and expectations. Many leaders may have started in ministry like David, but have become Sauls, afraid of the people and concerned more about creating personal legacy. Even though we see the exposure and leaders stepping down from their pulpits, I sense from the Lord say this will also effect us on a local and personal level. Businesses, local ministry, relationships will be shaken in this time.

While this is heavy and hard to hear, we have all had time to repent and humble ourselves. God is faithful to get our attention but we must be responsive to the correction of the Holy Spirit. These changes happening are for the good of the whole body. The Day of the Lord is like a giant reset for the Church.

The scriptures the Lord gave me are Isaiah 13:6-9 and Isaiah 4:3-6. There is good news in this, as always with Jesus, he is the great restorer but we will need to find safety in him during this time.

Wail, for the day of the Lord is near;
    it will come like destruction from the Almighty.[a]
Because of this, all hands will go limp,
    every heart will melt with fear.
Terror will seize them,
    pain and anguish will grip them;
    they will writhe like a woman in labor.
They will look aghast at each other,
    their faces aflame.See, the day of the Lord is coming
    —a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger—
to make the land desolate
    and destroy the sinners within it. (Isaiah 13: 6-9)

Those who are left in Zion, who remain in Jerusalem, will be called holy, all who are recorded among the living in Jerusalem. The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit[a] of judgment and a spirit[b] of fire. Then the Lord will create over all of Mount Zion and over those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over everything the glory[c] will be a canopy. It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain. (Isaiah 4:3-6)

The glory of the Lord will be so much greater in this time, perhaps more than any of us have ever seen. This means increase miracles, healing and restorations along with judgments. The judgment of the Lord is a good thing and may not mean punishment or removal from position for you individually. It may mean that long awaited answers to prayers will finally be released.

As we are in a time of shaking, it is important to pray for those around us who are struggling. God is not being exclusionary, but resetting the church to look more like his original intention. To house his glory and be a beacon of hope and love to a world damaged and broken by sin. Righteousness is always his standard and judgment begins in the house of God. Humility is key in this hour.

I hope this message encourages you today. Though I am shaken by this word, I am deeply encouraged by Isaiah 4. over everything the glory[c] will be a canopy. It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain.

His glory will be our safe place. Our private times in prayer will be a shelter from the storms and rain happening all around.

Blessings,

PJ
