Sexual Sin and The Church (Repost from 2022)

The Lord has encouraged me to write out the prophetic message I did a video on in 2022 about this subject and I must be obedient to that unction of the Lord. Let me be clear, this message is for those in the church who have given their hearts to Jesus at one point or another. Also, this is not condemnation (for there is no condemnation in Christ, Romans 8:1). This is about our hearts and being honest with God, obedience to truth, so we can come out of a lies and into freedom. Here are the scriptures for this:

1 Corinthians 6:18 – Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.

Hebrews 13:4 – Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 – It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body[a] in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;

Ephesians 5:3-5 – But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

1 Corinthians 5:9-11 – I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister[a] but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.

These scriptures are intense, and this is no call to perfection, but honesty with the Lord so we can begin to unravel our hearts away from this sin and be sanctified in him. God has a standard that society does not hold. But we are called to be holy as he is holy, and he is asking us do we still believe him? We need to remember what he has spoken about this. There is a huge deception that God will just forgive us at the end of our lives and we are not required to change anything in regards to sin in our hearts. Men and women sleeping together before marriage is a sin before the Lord and we must come out of it for the sake of our souls in this life and in eternity.

The father’s heart seeks to be reconciled to us and sin separates us from him. When he asks people like me to warn the church about the dangers of sexual immorality, he is not telling us to make us feel guilty or to hurt us, but entirely the opposite is true. He is desperately trying to bring us back to him, always and forever. To come out of sin and find freedom.

The Bible is a legal document, among many things. Words like judgement, testimony, covenant, plead, these are all legal terms in scripture. The enemy is the “accuser of the brethren” (1 Peter 5:8). He brings accusations to God against us when we sin and it gives him a foothold in our life. This means he has legal rights to access us In other ways. So when we openly walk in sin in this life, without repentance, we are subject to the curse of it. And this sin ultimately leads to death. (1 John 5:16-17)

A lifestyle of repentance is the true nature of the Christian walk. Sin is a sickness, a wound. It begins from the pain we experience in life. Perhaps we don’t feel valuable and find our value in having sex without commitment of marriage. We numb ourselves with pleasure and this wreaks havoc in our lives. God is loving us back to life by telling us today that we are more valuable than this standard. More than we can see sometimes.

99% of us have a sexual immorality issue. Song of Songs 8:6 says “love is as strong as death,” which is a strong statement. Sex has to do with love and when we’re wounded in love, God understands we are going to miss the mark on his standard. He has mercy for us now and this is why he brought Jesus to the world. 1 John 2:1 says “My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.”

At the end of our lives if we are entangled in sin and never once tried to agree with God’s word, tried to make a change, or showed him we believed him by our obedience, we’ll find ourselves standing before his throne in judgement. It’s not because he doesn’t love us or desire to show us mercy, but he legally cannot pardon our sin. Scripture is clear as we read above. We who are sexually immoral will have no place in God’s kingdom or eternity. This truth scares me, and it is why I feel strongly to bring this up to the body of Christ. I don’t say this hurt anyone, but I say it because I believe God and I love his people too much to be silent.

If you have fallen into sexually immorality, I pray God makes a way for you to come out of it and be reconciled back to him because he loves you and you will find rest for you souls in this repentance.
